Much of our recent growth has centered around our new urban locations, which are designed to fit in high-foot-traffic areas and offer a modern look and feel. We have also made great strides in recent years to build on our brand and our quality and to expand our product offering. Menu innovations have included the introduction of the Value Deals menu with its Spicy Chipotle Chubby Chicken® wraps and Buddy Burger™ lineup. We have also recently updated our fries to a russet thick-cut style and introduced sweet potato fries served with chipotle mayo. All have received rave reviews from our customers. On a larger scale, our better beef pledge ensures that our ongoing commitment to quality is here to stay.

Things also now look a little different in-store, with the introduction of wire baskets for our fries and paper wrappers for our burgers to accompany our famous frosted mugs. All of these items not only represent quality, they also help reduce waste.

Franchisee Qualifications

A&W treats the process of awarding a franchise agreement with great care.

Our stringent qualifications for a multi-site agreement include:
• Sound business acumen and professional background
• Successful track record
• Proven relationship-building and people-management skills
• $2 million net worth
• $800,000 in unencumbered cash or liquid assets

Our minimum qualifications for an individual-unit opportunity include:
• $600,000 net worth
• $350,000 unencumbered cash or liquid assets

Investment information

The typical investment ranges from $900,000 to $1.3M per restaurant. The franchisee must provide unencumbered cash equity of no less than 35% of the total investment.

The investment ranges from $700,000 to $900,000.

Fees – A&W offers a very competitive fee structure
• Service fee: 2.5% of net sales
• Advertising Fund Contribution: 2.5% of net sales
• Initial Franchise Fee: $55,000 for a 20 year agreement

A rare top-tier franchise opportunity
Opportunities don’t often knock as loudly as this. A&W is offering a limited number of prime multi-site and individual unit franchise opportunities. In Ontario, only a small number of multi-site drive thru and urban opportunities are still available. Multi-site developments include between 3 and 7 restaurant opportunities for sale in a defined area and may include both drive thru and urban restaurants.

Free Standing Restaurants are designed for the smaller community.
